The article "Beautiful New Reserve Bar in Los Angeles," is found on a page that keeps up to date with all of the Starbucks Coffee updates, and has a large fan following. This specific profile is focused on a coffee bar that has been built as sort of an "upgraded" Starbucks.
The author of this article, Melody, was just a visitor to this reserve location, but she gains credibility by simply including pictures that show she has personally been to this place. The pictures include loads of people gathered in the Reserve, the "beautiful" outside area, and the upgraded machines behind the counter. All of these factors could play a big part in swaying the audiences decision to attend the shop. Some people may say that a Starbucks building is not a community. Unless you are a frequent coffee goer, this may be true. Most times there are "regulars" that attend the same coffee shop on a consistent basis and this forms a community within the shop. Melody explains that even after one visit at the shop, she experienced this vibe. She says, "I visited mid-afternoon on the 20th and met lots of friendly partners and had a great time." The community is obviously an open and changing community depending on the time of day and day of the week. She leaves it open to the audience to experience what she had at this specific Starbucks location by saying, "Hope you get to visit this Reserve Bar or any other Reserve Bar location." Melody does a great job telling her audience what is specific to the reserve coffee shop by explaining the types of coffees that can be purchased and a brief background of each. She explains the Micro Blend 11 coffee as a "unicorn in the Reserve lineup." This shows the rareness of the coffee and how you can find something magical when you sip the coffee. This appeals to the audience and encourages them to try for themselves The hyperlinks Melody includes in her profile, link you to other pages she has completed research on and written a profile for the coffee. This gives credibility to her page by showing she has done further research on the topics she is talking about, rather than spouting off facts and hoping the audience will believe her. Whether the audience feels a since of community or not, Melody sells the Reserve and gives clear information as what makes this place so important to the already existing community.

Hi Sarah! Being a lover of coffee, I enjoy the community you chose. Right off the bat I noticed you do not use the same tense within your first paragraph. It makes the reading a little choppy and confusing. I like how you start with past tense, so just carry it through for a much smoother read! The specific sentence that needs tense changing is the last sentence in the first paragraph. I like getting an insight through Melody, but I wish it were a little more in depth. Specifically, I wish there was more description of Pathos. I like how you refer to her credibility and ethos by saying she is a frequent goer and takes many pictures. Overall, interesting piece!
